. A reservoir break in southeast Missouri sweeps away a state park superintendent and his family. (12/14/05)

JEFFERSON CITY - An early morning breach at the Taum Sauk reservoir sent a wall of water rushing through Johnson Shut-ins Park -- destroying the park superintend's home and forcing evacuation of nearby residents.

The park superintendent, his wife and three children were discovered down stream by a truck driver, according to a spokesperson for the Natural Resources Department.

The three children remain hospitalized.

The reservoir is operated by the St. Louis area power company, AmeronUE.

    . Bill Holds Employers Liable for Sex Offenders Repeated Crimes (12/14/05)

    JEFFERSON CITY - If a Missouri registered sex offender repeats their crime they are not the only ones that would go to court in a bill filed for next legislative session -- so would their employer.

    The bill holds places of employment that have contact with children under the age of 16 civilly liable for registered sex offenders repeat crimes if hired by the company.

    JEFFERSON CITY - Secretary of State Robin Carnahan joined forces to start a task force aimed at election improvement.

    . Gov. Blunt Discusses Toll Roads at a Missouri Transportation Group Meeting (12/13/05)

    JEFFERSON CITY - Gov. Matt Blunt and MoDot's chief engineer Kevin Keith touched on the topic of toll roads at the Missouri Transportation and Development Council meeting.

    MoDot wants to use toll roads to fund its 900 million dollar Mississippi River Bridge project in St. Louis.

    JEFFERSON CITY - The Office of Public Counsel presented the Missouri Public Service Commission with an emergency clause for the "Cold Weather Rule".

    The "Cold Weather Rule" provides assistance to lower-income Missourians who need help paying heating bills.

    . Missouri's governor facing a possible Republican primary challange. (12/06/05)

    JEFFERSON CITY - The Kansas City Star reported Tuesday that a former top aid to John Ashcroft is considering a race against Matt Blunt in the 2008 primary for governor.

    The possiblity of a race was raised by Chip Robertson -- a former Missouri Supreme Court judge and who previously served as Ashcroft's chief of staff when Ashcroft was governor.

    Robertson was quoted by the Star as saying he "I'm going to think about it."


    . Chair of Joint Committee on Terrorism Says State Needs To Do More (12/06/05)

    JEFFERSON CITY - Republican Representative Jack Johnson called a meeting of the committee to hear testimony from state emergancy agencies.

    The Department of Public Safety is in charge of streamlining the state's disaster preparedness.

    JEFFERSON CITY - The U.S. Supreme court will decide whether schools receiving federal funds can ban on-campus military recruiters because of the military's don't ask don't tell policy.

    JEFFERSON CITY - Republican Senator Chuck Gross sponsored a bill that would require physicans to offer pain relief to unborn fetuses.

    JEFFERSON CITY - Missouri drivers would have corn in their gas tank in a bill filed for the next legislation session.

    . Proposed bill would offer anesthesia to fetuses facing abortion (12/05/05)

    JEFFERSON CITY - Pain relief for fetuses facing abortion is among the topics on the table proposed for Missouri's next legislative

    session. If approved, the Unborn Child Pain Prevention Act would require physicians to inform women seeking abortions of the fetus' capacity to feel pain at 20 weeks, and to offer to administer anesthesia to a fetus before an abortion.
