Wrap: The House voted to make Missouri the last state to impose a tax on cell phones.

Lawmakers discussed a measure Tuesday, that would let county voters approve a tax on cell phones to increase funding for 911 services.

The bill's sponsor is Jackson County's Rep. Jeanie Lauer.

Actuality:  911.WAV
Run Time:  00:08
Description: "We're trying to make sure that we are not only prepared for 911 right now, but also to be in a better position to handle the kinds of changes in technology that are upcoming."

The proposed funding would allow counties to make up for the decrease in revenue from landlines.

There were no opponents to the bill.
