JEFFERSON CITY - Missourians are left in the dark on the cost of the implementation of a bill passed in July regarding drug tests for people on welfare.

The Director of Comunications at the Missouri Department of Social Services, Seth Bundy, declined to comment on the progress of a bill that was authorized in July to drug test Missourians that are currently on welfare. 

House Bill 73 requires certain applicants for and recipients of Temporary Assistance for Needy Families Program benefits to be tested for illegal drug.

On July 12, Governor Jay Nixon signed and approved the bill into action. 

Bundy says it would be "premature" to speculate as to its implementation, costs or impact.
