Wrap: Missourians will vote in the presidential primary in February...but their votes won't matter since Republicans are choosing their delegates by caucus.

Supporters of the primary say it gives Missourians a voice in choosing the next President of the United States.

But opponents of the primary say the 8 million dollars it will cost the state could be put to better use.

St.Louis County Senator Republican Eric Shmitt is one of those opponents.

Actuality:  SCHM.WAV
Run Time:  00:12
Description: "363 more kids could get on the autism waiver in Missouri with 8 million dollars. Trust me, it'd be worth it for ONE kid...just to change that child's life."
Shmitt also mentioned additional services like clean-water testing that could be funded by 8 million dollars.

Description: "This is insane that we're even having this debate ... that we're gonna shut down the will of the people ... and I am not gonna be a part of that."

A compromise failed after a tied vote to cancel the state's presidential primary in 20-12.
