Keep your eyes on the road and your thumbs off your cell phone.

That's what the Missouri Senate approved Wednesday.

Jefferson County Democrat Ryan Mckenna proposed the idea and said texting behind the wheel is more dangerous than someone eating or doing their hair while driving.

Description: "This is an issue that raises far above the other distractions that go on in the car and I don't know how we rectify those."
The ban is part of a much larger crime bill.

Senators also approved a measure to outlaw minors from "sexting," or sending explicit photos or videos from your cell phone.

The bill now goes to the House for a final vote.

Missouri Senators voted to ban texting while behind the wheel.

The ban does not include talking on the phone while driving.

Republican Senator Matt Bartle said texting may be dangerous, but someone driving after stopping at the drive thru could be even worse.
