Supporters of home schooling rallied against an education bill because it requires students to reach their seventeenth birthday or complete 16 credits before they can drop out.

Lobbyist Kerry Messer says home school education is based on the number of hours in attendance, not credits.

Description: "Because of this rally, because of this crisis that the Lord has given us an opportunity to fix what is broken in the law (applause)."

Although the bill passed, it was amended to ensure that it would not affect home-schooled children.

Missouri lawmakers passed an education bill, but not without last-minute changes.

The bill says that students must reach age 17 or complete 16 credits before they can drop out.

The bill was quickly amended to ensure that home-schooled children would not be affected.

Republican House member Rodney Schad of mid-Missouri addressed the rally.

Description: "I'm not the hero. You parents are the heroes because of what you do. (Applause)  It's not about me. It's about these kids."

Having passed both the House and Senate, the bill is ready for the governor's desk.
