Democrats in the Missouri House of Representatives say they want a tougher campaign finance bill.
Amy Becker has more from the state capitol.
A bill sponsored by Republican Representative Tom Dempsey would change current campaign finance laws in the state by increasing the requirements for disclosures on governmental spending.
House Democrat Leader Jeff Harris says with the current Jack Abromoff scandal in Washington, Missourians deserve to know corruption is being taken care of in Jefferson City.
But Harris also says the bill needs to be strengthened so Missouri can avoid the political corruption that has plagued Washington.
Harris says the purpose of the reform is to decrease skepticism of tax payers and to restore faith in the political process.
Reporting from Jefferson City, I'm Amy Becker.
