JEFFERSON CITY - Some Missouri vehicle owners have driven down state revenue by $90 million, Revenue Director Carol Fisher said Monday.
Missourians who steal license plates or drive on expired tags are contributing to the outstanding debt, she said. The Department of Revenue has raised the idea of requiring sales taxes be paid at the time of purchase, which would alleviate the debt from those who buy their cars from dealers, Fisher said.
