A recent Massachusetts Supreme Court ruling that declared the state's ban on same-sex marriages unconstitutional won't affect Missouri law, according to some lawmakers. Christine McCarty has the story.
Missouri lawmakers say state law contains a statute which says that a marriage can only be a union between a man and a women. The Chairman of the House's Judiciary Committee Richard Byrd says that the Massachusetts ruling won't lead to same-sex marriages.
Even though the Massachusetts ruling won't have an affect on Missouri, a Missouri gay rights group -- PROMO -- says that this is still a victory for their community. From the state Capitol, I'm Christine McCarty.

Some Missouri gay rights activists say the Missouri legislature is clearly opposed to same-sex marriages. Jeff Wunrow, executive director of PROMO -- a gay rights group, says that the Massachusetts ruling won't affect Missouri but it is good news for their community.
