Republicans Respond to the Democrat's Plan for State Highways

The Democrats' proposal to address Missouri's ailing roads doesn't appeal to Republicans.

One week after Republicans released their plan, the Democrats unveiled what they're calling "a bridge to a long-term solution."

The bridge is a possible two billion dollars in bonds over six years.

House Minority Leader, Delbert Scott says he's glad the two sides are addressing the important issue. However, he says the Democratic plan isn't the answer.

Scott says that the Republican's proposal is a long term solution, not just a bridge to that solution.

Democrats proposed a plan of their own to address the state's failing highways and a leading Republican says it isn't all that different from his party's plan.

Last week House Republicans and thier leading gubernatorial candidate, Jim Talent released their proposal to fix the highways.

Tuesday the Democrats answered.

House Republican leader Delbert Scott says the Democrat's proposal is a step in the right direction, but it isn't enough.

The Democrats admit that their plan isn't a long term solution, but it is a bridge to that solution.
