St. Charles Senator Steve Ehlman was accused of being a racist last week and this week he got involved in the same sex debate.
Renny MacKay has more from Jefferson City.
During the same sex marriage debate Ehlman proposed an amendment to the bill to teach facts about marriage in high school health classes.
His model for a proper marriage is of a man and a woman, but he says his proposal is about education not same-sex marriages.
The Senate could vote on Ehlman's proposal and the same sex marriage bill as soon as Thursday.

During the debate on same sex marriages in the Missouri Senate, the issue of legislating morality came to the floor.
From the state capitol, Renny MacKay has more.
St. Charles Senator Steve Ehlman proposed an idea to make high school health teachers add a marriage unit to their classes. He wants students to hear facts about the effects of divorce on families.
Ehlman also proposed that the model for a marriage be between a man and a woman.
St. Louis Senator Mary Bland says this is legislating morality and would add more to the load of already overworked teachers.
The Senate has yet to vote on Ehlman's proposal or the same sex marriage bill.
