The Republicans are saying the issue should be a top priority.
Democrat Rodger Fitzwater is Chair of an education committee. He says that a new superintendant and the end of the courts involvement may fix the problem in Kansas City, but is taking a wait and see approach.

The two biggest school districts in Missouri have become unmanageable according to St. Jo Representative Charles Shields.
Kansas City loses its accreditation in May and the Republicans proposed dividing its school district.
Shields says that St. Louis is headed toward the same fate as Kansas City's school district.
The Democrats aren't panicking yet. Rodger Fitzwater is chair of the education committee that is responsible for the school districts. He says he'll wait and see what the two school districts have to say in a hearing next month.

The Republicans have proposed a bill to divide Kansas City's school district, they want a hearing to discuss their proposed bill as soon as possible.
Democrat Rodger Fitzwater says a hearing will be held in early February and dividing the district will be discussed.
The lead sponsor of the bill, Charles Shields from St. Jo thinks the district is currently unmanageable.
