Gov. Jay Nixon appoints Boone County Treasurer as new state auditor

Nixon says her experience and reputation as treasurer will be an asset for the auditor's office.

Minutes after the announcement, the Missouri Republican Party released a statement, saying in part, "Nicole Galloway is entirely beholden to Jay Nixon."

Galloway will take office during the week of April 27.

The Missouri Republican Party released a statement saying Governor Nixon put politics ahead of voters wishes when he appointed Galloway, a Democrat, to fill Republican Tom Schweich's term.
