Attorney General comes to the defense of Senate

Wrap: Last week three Senators were sued under the Sunshine Law for prohibiting a liberal activist group from taping committee hearings.

During a press conference the Senate Majority Floor Leader, Ron Richard says he is please the Attorney General has agreed to help.

Description: Senator Dempsey fired a shot across his bow and he decided to go ahead and represent us so I thought that shot was well taken.

Last week the Senate gave preliminary approval of a bill that would allow the General Assembly to hire outside counsel if the Attorney General does not agree to defend them.

Wrap:A liberal activist group filed a lawsuit against Senators after being banned from recording a committee hearing.

In the same week the Senate passed a bill that would allow outside legal counsel to be brought in instead of the Attorney General.

Description: We just want to be able to use those funds to represent us when we need attorney representatives and if the Attorney General decides not to do that we just want access to someone who will do that for us.

The bill comes in response to the Attorney General not defending the General Assembly on legislative issues in the past.
