A week before Missouri's next scheduled execution, a legislative hearing set to address execution protocol in the state was canceled when the director of the Department of corrections said he would not appear
Wrap: The House committee planned to discuss the Department's procedures regarding excution protocols and the procurement of the execution drugs. However, Lombardi sent word hours before the hearing that he would not be in attendance.
Barnes said Lombardi's absence was disappointing but the issue is not going away.
|Description: This committee has never held a one sided hearing and we aren't going to get in that practice if we can avoid it.|
The Department of Corrections could not be reached for comment.
