Intro:
Thanks to a new law that goes into effect Tuesday, cell phone users will now enjoy the same protection from telemarketers as land line users.
RunTime:  0:33
OutCue:  SOC

Wrap: The measure prevents telemarketers from soliciting via cell phone, text messages and fax machines.

Missouri's Attorney General Chris Koster said the ban on cell phone soliciting is the most important aspect of the law.

Actuality:  KOSTER3.WAV
Run Time:  00:13
Description: "The component of the law that is going to affect people the most is simply not recieving unwanted telephone calls on their cell phones. For years people have said why can't cell phones recieve the same level of privacy protection that land lines have been recieving."

The bill also bars companies from using fake aliases on caller IDs.

There is a fine of up to 5 thousand dollars per violation.
