Wrap: The Missouri Gaming Commission plans to pick a favorite for the license by the end of the year.

Five companies turned in their proposals by Wednesday's deadline.

A Gaming Commission spokeswoman says we'll probably get more information about the five next Tuesday.

One of the companies wants to build a casino in St. Louis, while another is looking in the St. Louis suburb of Spanish Lake.

A Kansas City suburb and Cape Girardeau are also in the running.

The license is up for grabs after the Gaming Commission sunk the operations at the President riverboat in downtown St. Louis.

The President closed in July.
