Run Time:  00:11
Description: "Change is always very hard, but we've seen the same, and the same, and the same and the only way we're gonna get anything different is if we totally change the system."

Wrap: Normandy and Jennings School Districts are in danger of losing state accreditation after not meeting 6 out of 14 academic standards in the Preliminary Annual Performance Reports.

St. Louis County Republican Senator Jane Cunningham says these results are substandard and students cannot continue to be ignored by the state legislature.

Actuality:  CUN2.WAV
Run Time:  00:15
Description: "Will these statistics and will these numbers that are obviously disappointing and unacceptable, move the will of the legislature? I hope so, I guess that's to be seen. We can't keep turning a blind eye to these children."

A St. Louis public education official says that these districts are moving forward from these indicators and that better results will come with time. Reporting from the State capitol,  I'm Breana Jones.

Wrap: Normandy and Jennings school districts are down in ratings this year, meaning they could lose state accreditation if they do not make improvements before the Annual Performance Reports.

The St. Louis area supervisor for the Department of Education Robert Taylor says these reports are lagging indicators and that the two school districts are making improvements and moving forward.

Actuality:  TAYLOR1.WAV
Run Time:  00:15
Description: "They are indicators to help a school district improve. That's what it's there for, and accreditation is used by the state to recognize those districts that are moving forward as well as those that need to improve."

St. Louis County Republican Senator Jane Cunningham says the public education system must be changed so that Missouri students are not left behind. Reporting from the State Capitol, I'm Breana Jones.
