With less than two weeks before the state budget must be finalized, there is still work to be done in Missouri legislature.

Even though the house and senate are considering a variety of issues, Nixon is focusing in on fiscal issues.

Description: My focus has been on trying to get this budget done, trying to get a jobs bill done, and focus on making sure we got resources to keep vital services, not only this year but next year and being very fically responsible in that context. I'm very hopeful we'll reach those goals by the end of the session.

Nixon said the House started focusing on finer points of the budget last week, and he expects even more progress this week.

The budget must be finalized by Friday, May 8.
