Lieutenant Dave Hall will be replacing Van Godsey, who was the MIAC Director when the report was leaked. Spokesman for the patrol, John Hotz refused to do a recorded interview, but he did say Godsey was reassigned to the Division of Drug and Crime Control. Hotz says the reassignment is part of an ongoing review of MIAC, but would not say whether is was directly connected to the militia report. Republican Representative Jim Guest, who sponsored a bill that would create an oversight committee for MIAC says he is not surprised about the appointment.

Description: I think they realized they had to take some action. Sometimes it's the director because at the top, he's the one ultimately responsible for what's released from the department.

Guest says even though the Highway Patrol is creating oversight of it's own, state government should still be involved.

Run Time: 00:18
Description: There's still many unanswered questions that hasn't been answered yet as far as who actually did the report and who directed him to do it. If it wasn't the director of MIAC that told him to do it, who did? Did he do it on his own or was he directed through the Federal government?

Guest says he doesn't know if Godsey should have been removed from the patrol, but says this new director may bring in more experience and responsibility to MIAC.
