Health information may become totally private

Under the proposed plan, health information would be kept from marketers, employers and creditors.

The only way for health information to get out would be for individuals to authorize it in writing.

And Janet Engelbach of the Missouri Eagle Forum says the explanation for this is simple.

Creditors gave the main opposition, saying there needs to be some exceptions for disclosing health information.

They say the bill is too broad.

President Bush has also signed similar federal laws involving medical privacy.
