Senator Advocates Abstinence
January 27, 1999 By: Princess Reyes State Capital Bureau
A lawmaker presented his bill to the Senate today that addresses sex education in Missouri schools. Princess Reyes has this report from Jefferson City:
Sen. Ted House presented a bill to the Senate concerning sex education. His bill says that sex education should stress abstinence to students.
Opponents to his bill say a comprehensive sex education program is a better way to teach this topic to students. Comprehensive sex education teaches students about birth control methods other than abstinence, such as how to use contraceptives.
