NRA's Hope for Right to Carry is Defeated in Missouri

The showdown between the Governor and the National Rifle Association is over. . . and the Governor won. Lori Prichard has the story from Jefferson City.

This is the first time that the NRA backed a ballot issue in a test of its political strength. Fred Myers helped lead the campagin for concealed weapons. He apologized to the NRA in his concession speech for failing to rally enough support.

The mood osicallted from jubuliant to neverous as the votes came pouring in on Proposition B. Lori Prichard has the story from Jefferson City.

Scores of politicans and lobbyists gathered at a hotel in Jefferson City hoping to celebrate a victory. But as the evening wore on, it was clear it was time for a concession speech. Missourians Against Crime spokesmen, Fred Myers, told supporters the fight isn't over.

Democrat Wayne Crump from Potosi underscored Myers' point. But, he says he won't launch another campaign for concealed weapons until the Governor leaves office.
