The Missouri Senate Gives Final Approval to Kids' Health Insurance Bill

Missouri is one step closer to wiping the noses of its uninsured kids.

Missy Shelton has the story from Jefferson City.

A measure setting up an insurance plan for the uninsured kids of Missouri found final approval in the Senate.

It's now up to the House to determine the fate of the bill.

Senator Ed Quick, a Democrat from Kansas City said he hopes party divisions don't prevent its passage in the House.

A similar bill died last year during a Republican fillibuster.

Some Senate Republicans helped approve a measure similar to one they helped kill last year dealing with insuring Missouri kids.

Missy Shelton has more in Jefferson City.

The Democrat sponsor of this year's kids' insurance bill, said Republicans in the General Assembly were obstacles.

But some Republicans like Senator David Klarich from St Louis gave their support to the measure providing health insurance for Missouri kids.

Senator Klarich said his concerns with this year's bill center around funding for the program.
