Testimony Heard For and Against Partial-Birth Abortion

Testimony from people both for and against the ban on partial-birth abortion came before the Senate Judiciary Committee.

Liz Cafer has the story from Jefferson City.

Those who want to ban partial birth abortion showed a video of an alternative proceedure.

This was meant to show that modern medical technology allows doctors to avoid partial birth abortion.

Bill Luetkenhaus, a Democrat from St Louis County, said it's an issue of taking care of babies.

Bill Luetkenhaus said it used to be in this country that the safest place for a baby was in its mother's womb under this proceedure that isn't the case.

The committee did not take a vote on the bill.
