Managed Care Regulation Considered

Missouri's managed health care system will be a focus of major attention's in the next legislative session. Ciprian Baltoiu tells us what to expect from the politicians.

An Interim commitee has been meeting all summer to review the status of managed health care in this state.

The group is now targetting some major problems in the system.

Committee Co-chairman, Senator Joe Maxwell...says it can be next to impossible to get proper treatment if you get hurt outside your own health care region.

Deciding what counts as an emergency has also become a problem...right now, some health care companies won't pay emergency care for things like a broken leg or high fever.

The Joint Committed plans to make final recommendations to the House and Senate after November first.
