A Possible Option For Fired Employees

Getting fired from a job may not be the end of the story for workers in Missouri. Brian Higgins has more from the Capitol.

The Senate Labor Committee heard a bill that would allow fired employees the right to challenge their dismissal. Senator Phil Curls says that employers should not be able to fire employees at will.

Contents: "This at least sets a procedure in which an employee who feels he has been unlawfully discharged or unwarrantedly discharged, an administrative procedure which he can present his case."

Under Senator Curls' proposal, employers would have to defend their actions before an arbitration board. The process would also eliminate court costs for both sides. Reporting from Jefferson City, I'm Brian Higgins.
