Jackson County Senator, Republican Will Kraus says there is a problem with illegal immigrants getting into car accidents without insurance or licenses.
In addition to Lembke and Purgason, the fiscal conservative gang included Sen. Jason Crowell, R-Cape Girardeau, Sen. Jane Cunningham, R-St. Louis County, Sen. Will Kraus, R-Jackson County, Sen. Brian Nieves, R-Washington, Sen. Luann Ridgeway, R-Smithville, Sen. Brad Lager, R-Savannah, and Sen. Rob Schaaf, R-St. Joseph.
Sen. Will Kraus, R-Jackson County, said the state could have a lot more money to spend if tax credit programs were reined in and capped. Schaefer said there could be some discussion on the Senate floor, but it would be "outside the scope" of the budget.
Some lawmakers said they are worried the admission price increase could force casino-goers across state lines. Sen. Will Kraus, R-Jackson County, said he is skeptical because the increase could affect casinos in the Kansas City area.
During last year's special session, changes to the state's tax credits failed to pass as the House and Senate could not agree on the program's sunsets, or expiration dates for programs unless the legislature reauthorizes them.
