Wrap: Fighting off charges that House Republicans aren't funding public education enough, southwest Missouri Republican Scott Fitzpatrick said the governor, who is a Democrat, is the one who doesn't do enough to fund education.
Rural southwest Republican Scott Fitzpatrick said the measure would cut costs to the program so the state can pay off its debt to the federal government that helps fund the unemployment benefits.
Rep. Scott Fitzpatrick, R-Shell Knob, the bill's sponsor, said Missouri has borrowed money from the federal government at least five times after the state's unemployment fund was drained, borrowing close to $1 billion.
