The Republican's choice for House Speaker in the next session -- Ron Richard, R-Joplin -- said, the House has been looking into nuclear, - with the Callaway No. 2 plant - hydroelectric, wind and clean coal power.
In the House, Independence Democrat Paul LeVota was re-elected as House minority leader and Ron Richard, from Joplin, was nominated by Republicans to be House Speaker.
Rep. Ron Richard, R-Joplin, said the plan would bring a $3.4 billion investment to the state. He said the mega-project with Canada-based Bombardier Aerospace would be the largest "blue-collar initiative" to ever take place in the state and estimated the company would create 2,100 jobs for Missourians who would receive an average starting salary of $63,000.
Jackson County Democratic Representative Paul LeVota sent letters to Republican Representatives Allen Icet, Ron Richard, and Joe Smith, asking them not to vote on a bill that would remove campaign contribution limits.
Reps. Ron Richard, R-Joplin, Allen Icet, R-St. Louis County, and Joe Smith, R-St. Charles, were named in a March 18 Missouri Ethics Commission release that stated they would have to return campaign contributions if the Missouri legislature did not overturn the caps on campaign limits.
Current and future state House Speaker elects Rod Jetton and Ron Richard eagerly endorsed the campaign efforts. Also on the list of supporters is Republican representative and fellow farmer Steve Hobbs, who shared in the energy of the press conference.
