Many opponents of the regulation package do support portions of the proposal. Rep. Ron Auer, who voted against the bill, agreed with Lakin and Mehan in supporting eliminating gag orders on doctors.
Reps. Ron Auer and Scott Lakin, who voted against the House bill, both agreed their insurance perspective helped them bring an educated opinion to the House floor.
On the House floor, Rep. Ron Auer, D-St. Louis, was the most vocal opponent to the managed care regulation bill. Auer, who works for the managed care provider Group Health Plan, voted against the bill. But he said he agrees with portions of the regulation package.
Martin Bubbs Hohulin, R-Lamar sounded the only dissenting vote. Hohulin, although a co-sponsor of the bill, said he primarily favored the bill put forth by Ron Auer, D-St. Louis, which also proposed to remove the sales tax for parks and conservation.
