For months there was speculation that Sen. John Schneider, D-St. Louis County, would try to override Carnahan's veto on a bill that would require women to consult case managers before getting an abortion.
But the bill's sponsor, Sen. John Schneider, said Friday that he would not bring up the proposal during the veto session. Instead, the St. Louis County Democrat said he'll reintroduce the proposal at next year's session that begins in January.
"It all depends on how you interpret the Constitution," said Louis DeFeo, the lobbyist for the Missouri Catholic Conference who works closely with the bill's sponsor, Sen. John Schneider, D-St. Louis County.
That prompted the bill's sponsor, Sen. John Schneider, D-St. Louis County, to offer motion after motion to change the journal. All his motions were defeated.
