The bill, approved by a close vote of 18 to 16, left some senators unhappy. Senator John Russell of Lebanon says he opposes any form of gambling and says he did not want this bill to advance to the House.
"To me, the picture on the drivers license is a very private thing, and it should be protected. Getting this information is a real invasion of privacy," said the bill's sponor - Sen. John Russell, R-Lebanon.
Crews asked the senators for a media exemption. The bill's sponsor Senator John Russell says the request will be taken under consideration once the bill reaches the senate floor.
"They (the constituent) don't want their names being sold to someone whose is going to send a bunch of junk mail", said the bill's sponsor, Sen. John Russell, R-Lebanon.
Two bills proposed by Sen. John Russell, R-Lebanon, would require children to attend school in order to obtain a driver's license or their family to receive public assistance.
