Republican Representative Joe Smith is trying to solve this problem with a prefiled bill that would ban hand-held cell phone use while driving. The bill will be one of the first heard next session.
Jackson County Democratic Representative Paul LeVota sent letters to Republican Representatives Allen Icet, Ron Richard, and Joe Smith, asking them not to vote on a bill that would remove campaign contribution limits.
Reps. Ron Richard, R-Joplin, Allen Icet, R-St. Louis County, and Joe Smith, R-St. Charles, were named in a March 18 Missouri Ethics Commission release that stated they would have to return campaign contributions if the Missouri legislature did not overturn the caps on campaign limits.
Rep. Joe Smith, R-St. Charles and chair of the House Tax Committee, said he too wants to make sure that the federal tax rebate goes to Missouri citizens.
