"Don't you think that a parent has a right to voice their opinion on such a large decision, whether their children are going to be exposed to someone carrying a six-shooter on their hip?" asked Sen. Jason Holsman, D-Kansas City, during the hearing.
Kansas City Democrat Senator Jason Holsman offered an amendment to the measure which would limit the contributions a candidate may recieve from donors for elected office.
"I don't believe that retribution for an innocent bystander is appropriate action for this body to take because they're unhappy that they had a promise broken to them," said Sen. Jason Holsman, D-Kansas City. "To take retribution on someone who had nothing to do with that is wrong."
Sen. Jason Holsman, D- Kansas City, debated with House bill sponsor, Rep. Doug Funderburk, R-St. Peters, on the neccessity of giving the public a voice.
"Now is not the time to be giving 620 - 650 [million dollars], whatever the final tab for this bill ends up being, to lose this revenue when we already cannot fund the obligations we have. It's not wise fiscal policy," said Sen. Jason Holsman, D-Kansas City.
