"I think it's a great idea," said Rep. Jane Cunningham, R-St. Louis County, who chairs the House's Education Committee. "I think it would save money because there are some services that are duplicative and now could be done under one roof."
"I am not here to get rid of MSHSAA," said the bill's sponsor -- Rep. Jane Cunningham, R-St. Louis County. "My motive is to focus on students, I believe they need to be treated with fairness and respect."
On the House side, the chairmen of the education and education appropriations committees have plenty in common. They are both Republican businesswomen from St. Louis County elected to the House in 2000. Rep. Jane Cunningham chairs the House Education Committee and Rep. Kathlyn Fares chairs the House Education Appropriations Committee.
But Education Committee Chair Jane Cunningham, R-St. Louis County, said the amendment could create a financial burden for the state if gaming revenues drop.
