That's after Missouri Senate Education Committee chairman David Pearce proposed a bill that would let St. Louis county public schools reject students from unaccredited school districts.

The committee's chair, Sen. David Pearce, R-Warrensburg, said the reforms face an uphill battle from here, seeing as how there are only seven weeks left in the General Assembly's session and the bill was only now introduced.
"Our bingo halls are facing a lot of competition," the bill's sponsor, Sen. David Pearce, R-Warrensburg, said at the hearing. "There's a lot of onerous restrictions in some cases, and as most of us know, the bingo halls back home -- they are operated by fraternal, civic organizations, veteran's organizations -- and they plow all their money back into the local community. They just do a fantastic job."
The committee's chairman, Sen. David Pearce, R-Warrensburg, said the hearing was an opportunity for Justus to present her bill. It's now up to her to drum up support, he said. Pearce wouldn't say when or if he would schedule a committee vote.

The committee's chairman, Sen. David Pearce, R-Warrensburg, wouldn't say if he'd schedule the bill for a vote. Justus, who has filed the bill two consecutive years, said if the committee doesn't vote on the bill this legislative session, she'll try again next year.
