Chairman Danny Staples says his decision came after a license plate bill he introduced became entangled in an abortion debate centered on a "Respect Life" license plate.
The bill's sponsor, Democrat Senator Danny Staples, killed the entire package of specialized license plates in protest after the Senate voted in favor of the "Respect Life" license plate.
At that hearing, the committee chairman, Sen. Danny Staples-Eminence, brought up concerns that the Highway Patrol was not doing its job enforcing existing speed limit laws.
"I doubt this legislation will prevent anything like that. I think that was more of a problem with road conditions and not so much of a speed issue." said Sen. Danny Staples, chairman of the Senate Transportation Committee.
