Sen. Danny Staples, D-Eminence, introduced a resolution to the legislature that would allow voters to decide if lawmakers could stay in the capitol as long as they want -- provided that, once they have passed the limit, they get a petition when they seek reelection.
"Toll roads are going to be the wave of the future in funding transportation across America," said Sen. Danny Staples, D-Eminence. "I don't think without them we will be able to compete with other neighboring states, because I think they will all be going in that direction."

At one point in the extended debate, Sen. Danny Staples, D-Emenance, held up a state Health Department report that there had not been one case in Missouri of the procedure that would be banned by the bill that has taken up two days of Senate debate.
"I always felt, and I was wrong, that this measure would pass," said Sen. Danny Staples, D-Eminence. He represents a largely rural district in southeast Missouri. He will develop a strategy for getting a concealed-weapons measure passed, he said, once he has a chance to analyze where Prop B was defeated and where it carried and by what percentage.
After hearing that report, the committee's chairman Sen. Danny Staples, D-Eminence, said he would propose a half-cent sales tax increase to fund repairs of multi-lane highways.
Under current law, anyone who rides a motorcycle must wear a helmet. Sen. Danny Staples has introduced a bill that would make the helmet law applicable to only those under 21. Ten members of the Freedom Roadriders came to the hearing to support him.
