HCS SB 800 Sponsor:Libla, Doug Status: GOVERNOR SIGNED Description: Expand who can a petitition to a juvenile court can be filed regarding termination of parental rights or adoption consent including a court-appointed guardian for a child or a private attorney who has filed a petition for adoption. Repeal a section on notarizing or having witness signatures for a written consent in such petitions. Repeal a provision that such a petitition does not become effective until the child is at least 48 hours old.

HCS SCS SB 894 Sponsor:Libla, Doug Status: GOVERNOR VETOED Description: Establish a program for grants for teacher professional development relating to computer science, subject to appropriations. Require the Education Department adopt a policy allowing a student to get one math, science or practical arts credit for a computer science course. The House added an amendment to let a business divert some of its state taxes to a higher education program if the business hires a student intern majoring in a technology field.

SB 919 Sponsor:Libla, Doug Status: H 3rd Read Description: Extend from 90 days to one year how long after military employment various driving license requirements are waived for former military. Limit the waiver for a motorcycle riding training course completion to get a motorcycle driving license to cover up to one year after completition of the course. Current law does not indicate any limit on how far back the course was taken.
