Description: The final CCS would impose work-program restrictions on the welfare programs. Expand the requirement for seeking a job for food stamps and impose a 45 month life-time limit for TANF (Temporary Assistance for Needy Families). In his veto letter, Nixon termed it poor tax policy to award a tax break to businesses that wash dirty clothes, but deny the same tax break to manufacturing companies.

    Description: Repeal the July 2016 expiration of a law that authorizes counties to reduce their budgets during the budget year when there is a decline in revenues. The amended House version became an omnibus local government bill involving a number of unrelated issues including expanding counties that can adopt public safety taxes, hotel and motel taxes, add counties that can nuisance abatement ordinances, etc.
