HB 1642 Sponsor:Roden, Shane Status: H Crime Prevention & Public Safety Description: Prohibit fire protection and ambulance districts requiring non-paid staff from living within the district. Prohibit a police agency from imposing a residency requirement for unpaid employees, except for living within the state. Limit payment for meeting-attendance for an ambulance or fire district board member to no more than one meeting per day and require the member actually have attended the meeting. The committee defeated the bill, effectively tabling the bill in the House.

Provide that $100 of the fine be given to the person who reported the violation. Establish a minimum first-offense penalty of $2,500, $5,000 or a second offense and $7,5000 for a third violation.
