Missouri Senate begins conversations on a new school transfer bill.

The removal of that requirement, bill sponsor Senator David Pearce of Warrensburg says, came from negotiations with Governor Jay Nixon.

Description: "And so this year he's talked to some of us in the legislature and said that if we take the private nonsectarian language out of the eqaution, then he would consider an expansion of charter schools and virtual schools."

Pearce says this will help the bill become law.

The senate did not take immediate action on the measure.

Wrap: The school transfer bill before the Senate, unlike last year, would not authorize nonaccredited school districts to pay for a students tuition towards a private school. 

Last year the governor vetoed the bill because he did not want taxpayer money potentially funding a private school.

The bills sponsor, David Pearce of Warrensburg, says that he has had conversations with the governor and believes this bill will not be vetoed.
