Wrap: The committee voted to pass a bill onto the floor which would require women seeking an abortion to watch an educational video.
This came after discussing two bills that would regulate abortion clinics.
Samuel Lee, a lobbyist for Campaign Life Missouri, testified in favor of a bill that would require annual inspections of abortion clinics.
Lee says since school busses and elevators require yearly inspections, so should abortion clinics.
Representative Stacey Newman of St. Louis County was not amused by his comment.

Description: "Instead of coming up with the fact that, you know, abortion, relating it to kids riding on school busses, I mean I find that offensive. And, I find that just wild for us to just say a fact and throw it out there with no background no source and obviously not coming from a medical organization." |

Wrap: The committee voted to pass a bill that would require a woman to watch an educational video before receiving an abortion, after discussing two bills aimed at reforming Planned Parenthood.
M'Evie Mead, director of statewide organizing for Planned Parenthood Advocates in Missouri, testified against the two bills.
One would put the organization at the bottom of the list for state funding.
The other would require yearly inspections of abortion clinics in the state.

Description: "Our opposition to the annual mandate inspections is that it is singling out abortion, which is a very safe procedure, for this additional restriction." |
Kathryn Swan, sponsor of both bills, says abortion clinics need to be inspected because in the past Planned Parenthood has failed inspections.
