RunTime:  0:40
OutCue:  SOC

Wrap: The Missouri state bar evaluation committees recommended St. Louis City Circuit Assoicate Judge Barbara Peebles be retained, despite her recent suspension. Dale Doerhoff is the statewide committee coordinator.

Actuality:  PEEBLES.WAV
Run Time:  00:09
Description: "The committee concluded that, in view of this finding, if the Supreme Court did not find cause to remove Judge Peebles, then we would not recommend that she not be retained."

Peebles was suspended in 2012 with pay and then suspended in 2013 without pay. The state disciplinary committee recommended her suspension in 2012 after a report found she gave her responsibilities to clerks, frequently showed up late and removed and later destroyed a court document.

Wrap: Statewide coordinator for the evaluation committees Dale Doerhoff used St. Louis City Associate Circuit Judge Judy Draper as a testiment to the success of the evaluations.

Actuality:  DRAPER1.WAV
Run Time:  00:09
Description: "Let us take Judge Judy Draper as an example. Four years ago, although the St. Louis County committee recommended that she not be retained, the voters retained her by a 55 percent margin."

Doerhoff says Draper's performance has improved in every measured category since the commitee recommend she not be retained. Judges are evaluated on a variety of criteria including ratings from lawyers and written opinions from judges.

Wrap: Statewide committees coordinator Dale Doerhoff used St. Louis City Associate Circuit Judge Judy Draper as an example of the success of the recommendations made by the committees during a press conference.

Actuality:  DRAPER2.WAV
Run Time:  00:10
Description: "Since then she has improved across the board in every category and her evaluations are now considerably higher, on average, are above 3.0."

In 2010, Draper was not recommended for retention by the committees, but was retained to office by voters. Judges are evaluated by the committees on a variety of criteria, including reviews from lawyers and written opinions from other judges.
