Department of Health and Senior Services spokesman Ryan Hobart says public awareness is responsible for the drop in cases.

Description: Wearing the proper kind of insect repellant, wearing the proper type of clothes and just in general trying to avoid areas where there might be a high population of mosquitos.

80 percent of those infected don't display symptoms of West Nile. Some develop a fever, joint pain, diarrhea or a rash.
