Wrap: And that failure left a 40 million dollar debt sitting in the city of Moberly after Mamtek failed to pay its bondholders.
In his letter to the State Auditor, Speaker Tilley said action must be taken quickly.
He said it needs to be determined how many more projects are failing ... and what will be the cost to taxpayers.
The audit of Moberly can only take place if a petition is signed by Moberly residents ... or if Governor Nixon gives his permission.
But Nixon's spokesperson Scott Holste refuses to say what their plan of action is.

Description: "I don't even know that we've received the Speaker's letter yet...I think we've read about it. But, uh, we just don't have a comment on it." |
Like the governor, the State Auditor does not yet have a response to the letter.
From the state Capitol, I'm Rebecca Woolf.
