Missouri landowners are not just growing crops but also the size of their wallets thanks to a new grant awarded from the United States Department of Agriculture. Becky May has more from Jefferson City.

Wrap: United States Department of Agriculture is awarding Missouri agricultural and forestry producers with a $38 million grant under the Conservation Stewardship Program, for their high number of participation in conservation efforts.

Resource conservationist of the department, Marilin Gann says Missouri ranks number one for the number of contracts given from the USDA.

Description: "There are areas where there are more agriculturally involved and more involved in our programs we can have more applicants, but we can get pretty consistent participation statewide."

Gann says the number of contracts given is based on the number of conservation activities a region has done, and the more efforts put in is how the money is distributed through the National Resource Conservation Service.
