Missouri loses 900 jobs to Michigan because of lagging Senators

 Intro: The governor is tired of waiting on a bill that could put hundreds of jobs in Missouri.

Lauren Mickler (MIKE-ler) has more from Jefferson City.

Missouri missed an opportunity Tuesday that cost the state a possible 900 jobs.

Kokam America, a Lee's Summit Company, took their business to Michigan.

The reason?

Governor Nixon says Missouri Senators can't come to a decision on the economic development bill that could have put more money in the state's offer and make Missouri competitive for these jobs.

Description: "Had this jobs bill already passed, our entire package could have been twenty-four point two million dollars larger. To put it simply we could have been in the running for these jobs."
Nixon says nothing can be done about what the state has already lost, but the bill needs to get on his desk as soon as possible to make sure Missouri doesn't miss out again.

Kokam America, a Lee's Summit company, put 900 jobs in Michigan because Missouri didn't offer enough cash.

One bill could have added twenty-four point two million dollars to Missouri's proposal, but Governor Nixon says a hold up in the senate kept the money out of reach.

Senator John Griesheimer (grease-hi-mer), a Washington Republican and the bill sponsor, says he's doing all he can get the bill passed.

Description: "It is so frustrating, quite honestly to me it's an embarrassment. It is an absolute embarrassment, that we can get a bill like this passed in some way shape or form."
The bill has been revised numerous times, but the Senate has yet to vote on it.
 
Griesheimer and Nixon both say something needs to be done before Missouri misses out on another opportunity.
