The Missouri Sex Offender List got a facelift Tuesday.
Hillari Duthoo (DOO-Thoh) has that story from the Capitol.
The Missouri Senate voted Tuesday to perfect a group of sex offense bills.
One of these bills makes it an offense to engage in sexual contact with a nursing home resident and endangering a child in a sexual manner.
The new legislation also cuts out certain offenses that currently lands someone on the registry.
Senate Republican Matt Bartle gives this example:
"If a non-custodial parent is convicted of kidnapping their own child, they will end up on the sex offender registry...which doesn't make sense to most people; most people feel like that's a failure to properly tell the citizens what this registry really is."
Bartle says its important to keep the registry up-to-date and accurate so Missouri's citizens can better rely on it.

The Missouri Senate perfected a group of bills dealing with sex offenders Tuesday.
Hillari Duthoo (DOO-thoh) has more from the state Capitol.
During the senate debate over sex offender bills, concerns regarding abortion providers came up.
St. Louis County Democrat Joan Bray accused Republican Matt Bartle of Lee's Summitt of being more concerned with preventing abortions than statutory rape.
"Now Senator,I tell you what, if you are going to suggest that after working on a bill like this for months through an open process that we don't care about dealing with rape, I'm telling you that you need to read the bill. That is an absurd suggestion and I won't take it!"
The bill makes drastic changes to the Missouri Sex Offender Registry by removing parents convicted of kidnapping their children.
The bill must now be passed by the House before it can be sent to the governor.
